RHONJ stars Teresa Giudice and Kathy Wakile love shopping at Robin’s Closet Boutique in Boonton

Ever wonder where Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Teresa Giudice and Kathy Wakile score their fabulous ensembles from? Look no further than Robin’s Closet Boutique in Boonton. Both ladies have been loyal customers for years and find most of their on and off screen looks from this on trendy Main Street shop. I stopped by to chat with owner Robin Kalfus to find out what Teresa and Kathy have been buying, and of course I had to do a little shopping myself.

Robin opened up shop on Boonton’s quaint Main Street nearly 10 years, after working on the corporate side of the industry for 25 years in New York City. She started out as a buyer for Macy’s Herald Square back in the late 80s, then moved over to the fashion manufacturing side.

As a boutique shopper herself, she saw the need for an upscale women’s store in the area.  She tells me, “I knew I could do this, so I opened up a small boutique, up the street, and we just kept growing. After four years we expanded, and moved into our current space.”

Robin stocks her shabby-chic, rustic space with an abundance of unique and trendy pieces. She has everything from casual-wear like Joe’s Jeans, and Generation Love tops, to great work separates by Bailey 44 and Fifteen Twenty, to beautiful cocktails dresses by Nicole Miller, Jay Godfrey, and Yoana Baraschic.

Robin tells me they cater to a fashion forward woman, “Our clients like fashion trends, but something that is wearable. They wear a trend more as an accent.”

Some of the hot fall trends Robin is excited for are florals, the cold shoulder, colored fur and velvet, navy and military inspired items, anything thats laces up, and exaggerated bell sleeves. She also tells me that leopard is here to stay, and flared denim is back.

If you see something you like here, you better buy it now, or it might be gone the next time you stop by. Robin says, “We get new pieces in daily. We buy a small amount per style, and once we’re out, we move onto the next thing. It keeps it fresh. It allows you to see a much broader range of merchandise.”

You also wont be seeing anyone else in the same outfit as you. “We definitely don’t want you walking into a party with the same top on, or the same dress,” Robin tells me. “We actually keep a history of all of our clients, so we are very aware of who buys what, and we will make sure that doesn’t happen.”

Robin and her knowledgeable staff love to style their customers, and help them pick out items that will work best for them. Robin says, “It helps direct our client to buy the right pieces. I prefer my client to buy fewer pieces, and be thrilled with what they got, and get great use out of them, than buy a ton, and never wear it. I dont like to hear an item was sitting in their closet, and they aren’t wearing it.”

What sets Robin’s Closet Boutique apart from other local clothing stores is their superior customer service. Robin tells me, “We believe that our client is the most important. We want them to walk in the door, and have a great experience, regardless of whether they buy something or not. At least they’ve had a good experience, so when they walk out the door, they have a good feeling.  We will do anything for our customer. We go above and beyond.”

And she literally means anything. During the holiday season, Robin offers complimentary valet parking. They also do shopping by appointment, special ordering for clients, and in home closet organizing.

She also makes life easier for her customers by staying open seven days a week. She says, “You really never know what motivates a person to start shopping. A lot of women work, so I understand that time is precious.  Our hours are indicative of what our client needs. Seven days a week is a no brainer. You can’t make the sale if your doors are closed.”

Robin counts Teresa and Kathy as two of her most loyal customers. She tells me Teresa has been shopping there for about four years now. She was introduced to the store through her girlfriends. Teresa is a huge fan of unique and fashion forward pieces. She loves Sheri Bodell, Byron Lars, and Bailey 44. One of Robin’s favorite looks on the Montville mother-of-four was a white-hot Bailey 44 dress she wore recently for an appearance on Watch What Happens Live. Kathy opts for more classic and chic styles by Nicole Miller, Jay Godfrey, and Yoana Baraschic.

When you shop at Robin’s Closet Boutique you are truly receiving a personalized one-on-one experience. Robin tells me at the end of the day, for her, it’s all about making her customers happy. She says, “It’s a luxury to buy clothing, and I am always thankful and grateful to our customers. We want our client’s to have a great experience, to come into the store and leave happy”.
