With a plethora of beauty salons across the Garden State, it was quite a feat narrowing the long list down to get you the creme de la creme. From luxurious to reality TV royalty, here’s the 5 beauty salons in New Jersey you should visit at least once, and why.
1. Depasquale The Spa
I’m sure you already know them for being one of New Jersey’s most luxurious day spas, but did you know this Morris Plains fixture is also an award-winning hair salon? They have been widely recognized for their color and design artistry. One of their best features is their Beauty Bar, which is an express service where in 15-minutes you can get anything from lashes to braids done. It’s perfect for us ladies who are always on the go! If Real Housewives of New Jersey star Melissa Gorga is fan, then you know you’ll be in good hands.
Fun fact: Danielle Jonas used to be a hair stylist here!
2. Jose Eber Salon
Hair legend Jose Eber — who has worked his magic over the years on Elizabeth Taylor, Cher, Barbra Streisand, Meg Ryan and Farrah Fawcett — brought his Beverly Hills glam to Millburn just over a year ago, and it’s already one of the state’s most buzzed about spots. This posh salon goes the extra mile for their clients by offering complimentary wine, valet parking, in-house entertainment from the state’s top DJs, and professional cleaning and detailing for your car on-site while you’re getting your hair done. Talk about living in the lap of luxury — even if it’s only for a couple hours. Jose even flies in every few months to give hair consultations to us Garden State gals! Tip: There’s a very long wait list to meet Jose, so make sure you book way in advance.
3. Moxie Blow Dry and Beauty Bar
You can’t go more than a couple miles in North Jersey without running into a Moxie salon. This franchised hair-empire was created by identical twins Jamie and Jennifer Dunn, two master hairstylists, who as they like to say, have been “moxifying” people for over a decade. Don’t let the name fool you. They are more than just a blow outs and makeup. They have six full service salons in Montclair, Ridgewood, Fair Lawn, Wayne, Montvale, and Englewood, that cover all of your hair and beauty needs, in a super chic environment, no less.
4. Bangz Salon & Wellness Spa
You will find this 10-year-old Montclair institution inside a beautifully renovated building, built in 1889, which previously housed a church and an old Masonic Temple, complete with stunning stained-glass windows, cathedral ceilings, and original fixtures. You’re getting a free history lesson, while getting your hair did. In addition to being home to some of North Jersey’s most talented stylists, Bangz is also known for throwing fun GNO events for their clients and friends, from shopping parties to elegant charity functions.
5. Gatsby Salon
If you haven’t heard of the infamous Gatsby Salon by now, you either have been living under a rock the past few years, or you sadly never watched the beloved Style Network (RIP). The docusoap series Jerseylicious, which ran for five seasons, followed the lives of some of Jersey’s most wild characters who all worked at the Green Brook salon. While leading ladies Tracy DiMarco and Olivia Blois Sharpe have since moved on, you can still have your hair worked on by owner Gayle Giacomo and her daughter Christy Pereira — Gayle has been there since her late husband founded the salon in 1977! While the cameras have since been turned off, there is certainly no shortage of Jerseylicious nostalgia here, and you can get a pretty fabulous blowout too!
