Here I am after chatting with RHONJ’s Jacqueline Laurita

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Real Housewives of New Jersey star Jacqueline Laurita at Books and Greetings in Northvale over the weekend, where she was signing copies of her new book Get It!: A Beauty, Style, and Wellness Guide to Getting Your “It” Together. I got the scoop on everything, from when Season 7 is premiering (ahhh so soon!), to Jac’s best piece of advice from the book, to her thoughts on becoming a glamma for the first time (her daughter Ashlee Holmes is expecting her first baby). Watch our fun chat below!

Let’s start with Season 7 of RHONJ, because I know you are dying to know the details. Jacqueline tells me the new season will be premiering in July, and we are getting a teaser video this week, possibly on Wednesday!

She says, “It’s really an emotional season. Teresa is coming home, there’s old relationships and new relationships, relationships shift and change through the season, there’s drama, there’s heart. I think it’s one of the best seasons. I love the new girls. They compliment each other, some are part-time and some full-time. I think they are coming here tonight. I think it’s a good mix of people, there’s just a lot of emotions this season.”

Wait, did she just tell us who the new ladies are!? Jacqueline posted a photo on Instagram from the book signing, posing with rumored newbies Dolores Catania and Siggy Flicker, along with veteran wife Kathy Wakile. If that isn’t a hint, then I don’t know what is.

The ladies came out to show support, and pick up a copy of the 20-year cosmetology veteran’s new self-help book, which she co-wrote with beauty and style expert Jené Luciani, who also penned The Bra Book. With their decades of expertise, the ladies share their easy tips and tricks for us busy girls, to help us get whatever “it” is that we want or need out of life. They cover everything from eating healthy and getting fit, to time-saving advice on hair, skin, and makeup.

Not many people know this, but Jacqueline is a licensed cosmetologist. She started out doing hair, and freelancing as a makeup artist (fun fact: she does her own makeup on the show!), and as she got older, her interest in skin care began. She tells me she loves doing research, and keeps notebooks full of the beauty knowledge she has acquired over the years, and always wanted a way to showcase all she has learned.  A mutual friend introduced her to Jené, and the rest is now history.

With so many amazing tips and tricks in this book, due in stores Tuesday (May 24), it wasn’t easy to choose a favorite, but Jacqueline says hers is “the happy list.” She says, “It’s creating a list of all the things that make you happy in life, it can be as little as getting a coffee on a nice day, to taking a bubble bath. Make a long list of all the things that make you happy in life, and it makes you do those things more often. You tend to forget yourself, and to do things that you are passionate about, so it makes you feel good, and it’s important to do.” I don’t know about you, but I for one, cannot wait to try this.

In addition to her new role of author, Jacqueline will also be taking on another new role very soon, the one of a glamma (glamorous grandmother, in case you didn’t get it)! Ashlee is expecting a baby boy at the end of September. Jacqueline jokes,  “I have to think of a name for myself, I joke around about glamma, but am I really going to have the kid call me glamma, probably not. So I have to come up with a name.”

She says Ashlee is doing great, and like any expectant parent, is doing lots of research (wonder where she gets it from?). She says Ashlee and her fiancé Pete Malleo have a couple names picked out already, but she’ll leave it to Ash to make the big announcement.

In true Jacqueline humor, she adds “I’m done having kids, so I’m just going to use her uterus now.” Does she not always have the best one liners, or what?!

Get It!: A Beauty, Style, and Wellness Guide to Getting Your “It” Together is set to hit shelves Tuesday.
